Windows Version

Armagetron has been reported to run successfully on all modern windows versions (that excludes 3.11 and eariler and some versions of Windows 95). An OpenGL capable 3D accelerator card is recommended, but not required.
Take a look at the compatibility table if you want to check how likely it is for Armagetron to work on your PC.

If you own a VooDoo card (esp. VooDoo 1 and 2), you really have to read the documentation!

Dedicated Server

The dedicated server is a special program that allows setting up a game server without playing on it. Since no input/output is needed, the dedicated server runs without the model and texture files and without the libraries. Configuring it is a mess and the windows version is a bit unstable currently (it loses connection to the clients from time to time).

Download

Have you read the remarks above? Really??? OK, then you are ready to download the current

Stable Version 0.1.4.9 for Windows:

You may get higher transfer rates on the mirror sites at PlanetMirror (Australia) or 3DFiles (USA).

Older versions can be grabbed directly form the download directory, even older ones from the old web page.

Installation: unpack the archive with winzip (or any other long-name aware unzip), then read the enclosed documentation in the "doc/" subdirectory (the documentation here refers to my current version; if in doubt, trust the documentation on your harddisk).

Source Code

The Linux mob is probably going to kill me for that, but anyway: Grab my Visual C++ Development Directory for Armagetron (currently featuring verion 0.1.4.5). To compile Armagetron, simply unpack it, open the file armagetron_vcpp/armagetron/VisualC/Armagetron.dsw with visual C++, select the Armagetron project and compile it; all the libraries needed are included in binary form. You may have to adjust some paths: the temporary files want to go into D:\atr_tmp\. The compiled .EXE-files will be put into armagetron_cvpp/dist.

If you want to update the sources, just download the new version from the Linux section and unpack them over the old sources. You may experience incompatibilities, as I don't test every development version in VC++.
